Feed Our Heroes

Who doesn’t love a hot meal brought into work for you! This summer USO Camp Pendleton has started the Feed Our Heroes meal program and with the help from our sponsor, Geico we have been able to feed over 1,550 Marines. Working with local restaurant, Raising Cane’s in Vista, USO Camp Pendleton staff and volunteers have delivered the mission of lunch to four commands since July spread across the whole base from Camp Horno, the Marine Corps Air Station, Mainside, and even to those Marines out in the range.
This month USO staff members visited 1st Battalion, 1st Marines (First to Fight) while out in the field training and was able to bring 700 dinners to Marines on the range. Retired Marine Gunnery Sargent, KT Henderson, the USO Transition Site Manager at Camp Pendleton said, “Those Marines were smiling ear to ear, its one night that their evening meal didn’t have to be an MRE. Visiting 1/1 on the range was like coming home for me, it was the first unit I served in on completing School of Infantry (SOI)”
With the help of our generous supporters USO Camp Pendleton staff hope to be able to continue to bring meals to Marines across this large base to increase morale and truly be a force behind the forces.
